Awareness is the Way

When I think of awareness I imagine the sunrise on the horizon. It unveils itself slowly at first and then as the light peaks up over the horizon it appears to rise faster as more light is revealed. The process is a similar one as you become aware of the ‘I” within yourself. It can evolve slowly at first as you take the initial steps of bringing your attention to the Light that lives within. With a quiet attention to your mind, body and heart you begin to experience a waking up to who you truly are. It is through awareness you that you walk the path of acceptance and peace.
When I think of seeking peace and acceptance in our lives, I am reminded of the stories I hear from clients, of the worrying thoughts that lurk in the mind usually around 4:00 a.m. and how invariably they seem to pass at sunrise. Similarly, as your awareness expands it both illuminates and lightens the way to what feels like waking up from a dream or nightmare. The dream which keeps you confined in repetitive thoughts, concerns, beliefs or illusions. Read the rest of this entry »
Children of the World
As I prepare to launch my book Starlight, Starbright: Wisdom of the Heart, I am excited about reaching as many hearts as I can. My hope for this book is to help you awaken your heart to hear the gentle voice of your spirit within that guides you. I invite you to connect with your curious, playful, creative, loving, child-like nature as a means of opening to your inner wisdom. How fitting I thought to dedicate this launch to the children who do not have the freedom to explore and create; the ones who are not given the opportunity to experience healthy relationships and the magic of the earth. In the spirit of all those who supported me I chose to combine my launch with a fundraiser for the organization Love146 Love 146 “ has initiated two core program areas to combat the issue of child sex slavery and exploitation, Prevention and Aftercare. In addition, Love146 works to grow a body of research on the issue to enhance the knowledge base for the communities we serve, our partners and our work”. Read the rest of this entry »

Findhorn, Scotland
The sense of community resonated deep within as I returned from Findhorn in Scotland where I engaged in a seven day intensive workshop with Joanna Macy. I was moved by the sense of connection that was felt by the participants that came from all around the world to engage in The Work that Reconnects. The workshop was held at Findhorn Foundation located in the small village of Findhorn. “The Findhorn Foundation is a spiritual community, ecovillage and an international centre for holistic education, helping to unfold a new human consciousness and create a positive and sustainable future.” (visit this link for more information www.findhorn.org) How can it be that a group of virtual strangers can come together and within a few days form a communal bond that is united in vision and intent? I have also seen this in situations where disaster strikes and a temporary community is formed to assist with the crisis. I asked myself, what happens during these instances that allow us to connect with our fellow beings in such a personal way? Read the rest of this entry »
The Work That Reconnects
I’ve just made the commitment to travel from Ontario, Canada to the Findhorn Foundation in Scotland to attend Joanna Macy’s workshop titled The Work that Reconnects (go to www.joannamacy.net). Findhorn Foundation is a small spiritual community and ecovillage with a common vision to create a positive and sustainable future. (go to www.findhorn.org/index.php?tz=300)
I’m excited to be traveling this great distance to be with others who share a vision for our earth and its future. I feel drawn to be with my brothers and sisters who have heard the wisdom of their hearts and are not afraid to put that wisdom into loving action. I wonder if I am being asked to create or live in such a community. Are we not all being called into act on behalf of our earth? Will I return with renewed passion to rekindle the flame in my heart and the hearts of others so we can move towards health, peace and happiness? How does one person become an impassioned community of people with a desire to change lives and in doing so change the world? Read the rest of this entry »
